Our Story
In 2016, Auckland Council and the LGBTQ+ sporting community came together to host the Proud to Play Games, an international competition.
Over 50 sports, 500 athletes and 20 days of competitive events, including:
- Touch Rugby
- Volleyball
- Roller Derby
- Tennis
- Badmington
- Swimming
- Ocean Swim
- Marathon
- Cycling
- Ten Pin Bowling
After a successful event, Proud to Play continued to support the LGBTQ+ sporting community by developing and connecting inclusive sporting groups around New Zealand.
